Opportunities for minority-owned businesses have improved greatly over the years, but we can’t afford to grow complacent. As Indiana continues to become more diverse and the number of minority-owned businesses continues to climb, the role of the Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council (IMSDC) in providing a link between our corporate members and our certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) becomes even more crucial.
To guide us in carrying out our role effectively, we’ve drafted the 2012-14 IMSDC Strategic Plan. Simply stated, this plan underscores where we want to be by 2014, and clearly identifies steps we must take to get us there. These measures fall into one of five key categories:
Grow: Increase corporate membership and the number of certified MBEs.
Develop: Identify new development opportunities for MBEs and implement methods and techniques that will show superior results.
Value: Boost the number of corporations purchasing from diverse suppliers by identifying qualified MBEs for them.
Financial: Increase revenue and reduce expenses.
Service and Quality: Cultivate good relationships between corporate members and MBEs and measure our success annually.
The strategic plan provides a roadmap for the IMSDC and is intended to be a dynamic and integrated effort. Its goals provide a balanced framework for what needs to be done to ensure the success of the IMSDC, its corporate members and, by extension, its certified MBEs. It sets our course and includes metrics and processes to ensure we stay on track.
I look forward to working with you and receiving your comments as we implement this plan over the next three years. Working together, we’ll grow our membership, thereby increasing opportunities for our minority-owned businesses.
